Alexander Ezenagu

Dr. Alexander Ezenagu is a Partner at Dumon Partners, where he heads the Sub-Saharan Africa Desk, and is based in the United Arab Emirates.

Prior to joining Dumon Partners, Alexander practiced as a commercial lawyer with two leading law firms in Nigeria, accumulating approximately fifteen years of legal practice experience. His professional practice has covered a broad range of areas, including oil and gas, trade, tax, project finance, sustainable development, investment, public-private partnerships, and commercial law. He is admitted to the Nigerian Bar and is a registered legal practitioner with the Nigerian Bar Association.

Alongside his legal practice, Alexander has had an extensive academic and policy career. He served as Associate Professor, Director of Policy Studies, and Co-Director of the Centre for Trade and Regional Integration at the African School of Governance in Kigali, Rwanda. He was, until recently, Director of the AfCFTA Policy and Development Hub and Senior Research Fellow at Strathmore University Business School, Kenya. He has also held the position of Professor of Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of the Qatar Foundation, in Qatar.

Alexander’s areas of specialization include public and private law, investment and commercial law, environmental law, trade and international tax law, construction and infrastructure development, natural resource governance, regulatory compliance, developmental governance, and policy development and implementation.

Over the past decade, he has provided legal, research, and expert consulting services to international organizations, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), as well as to corporate entities, universities, and institutions across Qatar, Hong Kong, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Kenya, and Nigeria.

Alexander holds a PhD in Law from McGill University, Canada. He is a graduate of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, and completed his post-doctoral training at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He is a prolific author, with multiple articles published in high-impact academic journals.
